About Hype Brake
Hype Brake is a short daily AI news podcast for smart non-specialists. Two hosts ask one question of every story: is this real, or is this the pitch?
When it comes out
A new episode every morning, usually by 5 AM Pacific, with the written version on this site later that morning. Each episode runs about five minutes.
Who makes it
The two hosts are synthetic AI voices. The scripts are written with AI models from published reporting, then checked by separate models and rules before anything is voiced. Hype Brake is published by Willhite Strategy Group.
How a story gets on the show
- Sources. Company blogs, regulators and newsrooms that cover AI, read every morning.
- Picking. The same news from several outlets counts as one story, and a story more good outlets carry ranks higher. Stories the show already ran are left out.
- Checking. Every claim in the script has to match the reporting it came from. A company's claim about its own product is reported as that company's claim. A claim that does not survive the check does not make the show.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, the episode page is fixed and the correction stays on the record, with what it said before. Every correction is listed on the corrections page. The audio is not re-recorded.
